Interior


  • Remove internal partitions, doors, and wall and ceiling linings.
  • Remove floor coverings.
  • Remove glass and window
    frames.
  • Removal of internal Lifts
  • Full Asbestos removal in risers,
    window frames, soffits, roof membrane and gutter membrane.
  • Concrete demolition for new riser shafts and lift shafts.
  • Concrete demolition for new basement foundations.
  • Seismic sawcutting for core wall strengthening

Planning and Control


  • Project in currently in progress, within budget and within program without
    any major issues.
  • Some additional Asbestos removal work was added to the contract, and
    this was completed within the existing contract program.
  • Multi Civil prepared a Demolition Methodology Plan for approval and
    implementation during the works.
  • All phases of the work had to have a thorough Methodology Task Analysis
    review and approval prior to any work starting.
  • The Methodology was reviewed and approved by LT McGuinness Ltd.

High Risk Works


  • Dust and concrete slurry
    control were a vital part of the method of works procedures.
  • Working at heights while removing the facade and structures with full harness fall protection.
  • Working in small areas and tight spaces.

High Risk Works


  • Removal of contaminated material.
  • Removal of asbestos contaminated material.
  • Class B supervisor onsite whilst asbestos removal works taking place
  • Approved asbestos bin liners install in all trucks for asbestos material
    works.
  • Correct PPE used while commencing excavation works.

Exterior


  • Saw Cutting and lifting out of the external gutter.
  • Removal of the Asbestos soffit cladding around building footprint
  • Excavation for new concrete beams.
  • Demolition of Northern end of building Basement level from new concrete
    beam.
  • Expose the tops of the existing concrete piles for the new construction to
    be tied into them.
  • Installation of temporary retaining wall for excavation works

Environmental controls


  • Multi Civil employed the use of a Dust Fighter, a sprinkler system set up
    on a temporary screened scaffolding, and hand held hoses to mitigate the
    dust created during the demolition.
  • Multi Civil used a fully bunded diesel tank for the storage of diesel fuel
    during the works.
  • Stringent consent issues had to be adhered to with regards noisy work.
  • The demolition was carried out in close vicinity to many office blocks with
    any noisy works carried out prior to 9.0am and after 5.0pm Monday to
    Friday and on Saturdays after 7.30am.
  • Slurry control measured were used when concrete cutting was taking
    place onsite.
